Rescue and Safe Return of Trapped baby Pigeon by Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization

Rescue and Safe Return of Trapped baby Pigeon by Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization

On April 18, 2025, the Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization received an urgent call about a baby pigeon trapped inside a vertical barrier structure in Italian Village 2, a residential area in Erbil, within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The young pigeon had been nesting on top of the structure when it accidentally fell through a small hole and became stuck inside the vertical shaft. It had remained trapped for an entire day without access to food or water.

Our rescue team responded immediately, arriving at the location with the proper tools to assess the situation and safely reach the bird. After identifying the pigeon’s exact position within the narrow space, the team carefully accessed the interior without causing harm or distress to the animal.

Once safely retrieved, the bird was examined for injuries and found to be in good health. The baby pigeon was then returned to its nest, where its parents were nearby. As a preventive measure, our team sealed the hole in the structure to ensure that similar accidents do not happen in the future.

This rescue highlights the importance of community awareness and fast action, as well as our organization’s continued commitment to the protection and well-being of animals across the Kurdistan Region.
