On May 30, 2023, the Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization (KAPO) endured a heartbreaking act of cruelty when an unknown group set fire to a kennel created to protect vulnerable street dogs in Hawleri Nwe. This tragic incident led to the immediate loss of three dogs, while two others were injured and are now under medical care. Funded and managed by KAPO, the kennel was a haven for these street dogs, providing them with shelter, food, and essential care.

Between May 30-31, 2023, in interviews with Esta Channel and Kurdsat, Kurdistan 24, NRT News, Rudaw, +964 Media, Mr. Farman Fadhil, founder of KAPO, expressed his deep sorrow over the loss and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing the best medical care for injured dogs.
