On May 30, 2023, the Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization (KAPO) faced a devastating act of cruelty when an unknown group set fire to a kennel built to protect vulnerable street dogs in Hawleri Nwe. This tragic event led to the immediate deaths of three dogs, while two others were injured and are currently receiving medical care. The kennel, funded and maintained by KAPO, had been a safe haven for these street dogs, providing them with shelter, food, and essential care.
In a recent interview with +964 channel, KAPO’s founder, Mr. Farman Fadhil, expressed his sadness and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to ensuring that the injured dogs receive the best possible treatment. He also emphasized KAPO’s dedication to advocating for animal rights and raising awareness about the importance of compassion and protection for all animals.
This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for stronger community support and protective measures for animals. KAPO calls on everyone to join the fight against cruelty, help safeguard vulnerable animals, and work toward a more humane society.
