Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the welfare and protection of animals, with a primary focus on stray animals in Kurdistan, located in northern of Iraq. Established in 2022, it is a strong and active organization within the Kurdistan region. It provides a safe shelter and essential medical care for animals that have suffered from violence or accidents, and it actively engage in feeding the growing population of stray animals, which has seen a significant increase in our country in recent years. Also, the organization has undertaken many important works such as:
- Rescue and treating animals through a fully equipped ambulance.
- Providing medical care for animals.
- Creating a lifesaving place to keep them alive safely through a special shelter.
- Provide trainings to people who are dealing with animals to spread awareness about safety and care.
- Creating seminars, conferences, podcasts and interviews to spread awareness about treating animals in a right way full of empathy.
Our organization continues its unwavering commitment with the invaluable support of both local and international volunteers. These dedicated individuals strongly advocate for the belief that animals deserve care, respect, and protection.
Our Mission
Our mission as an animal protection organization is to ensure the welfare and safety of both domestic and wild animals through compassionate, scientific, and humane methods. We strive to reduce the population of stray dogs in our country and promote biodiversity by protecting wild animals. By fostering a culture of compassion and responsible care, we aim to create a harmonious environment where animals and humans can coexist safely and happily. Our highlighted missions are:
- Promoting the idea of saving ecosystem through conserving natural habitats.
- Educating society, cultivate awareness and advocate for the rights and well-being of animals through a series of ongoing impactful activities.
- Improving international connections to updated our services with contemporary approaches.
- Supporting the government in resolving issues related to human-animal conflicts in the region includes implementing strategies to reduce the impact of such conflicts on both society and wildlife.
- To take on the role of Safe Hands to protect both animals and people in society from harm they may cause to each other.

Therefore, we are focusing on gathering stray animals into a safe shelter environment where they can receive proper care, nutrition, and protection. Moreover, we aim to foster a culture of compassion towards animals, redirecting people away from harmful behaviors such as violence, killing, or torture.
