On May 30, 2023, the Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization (KAPO) suffered a devastating act of cruelty when a kennel, built to shelter vulnerable street dogs in Hawleri Nwe, was set on fire by an unknown group. This tragic event resulted in the immediate loss of three dogs, while two others were injured and are now receiving medical care. This kennel, funded and managed by KAPO, served as a safe space for these dogs, providing them with shelter, food, and essential care.
In a recent interview with Kurdsat, KAPO’s founder, Mr. Farman Fadhil, expressed his deep sadness over the loss and emphasized the organization’s dedication to ensuring the best possible treatment for the injured dogs. He also highlighted KAPO’s commitment to animal rights advocacy and to raising awareness about the importance of compassion and protection for all animals.
This heartbreaking incident underscores the urgent need for stronger community support and protective measures for animals. KAPO urges everyone to take a stand against cruelty, to help protect vulnerable animals, and to work together toward a more humane society.
