The Kurdistan Animal Protection Organization (KAPO) held a press conference in Erbil to address and express the growing dissatisfaction among animal lovers regarding the current state of the Erbil animal shelter. During the conference, KAPO highlighted several pressing issues plaguing the shelter, including inadequate facilities and a lack of proper care for the animals.
KAPO has formally requested the governor to take immediate action to improve the situation. Their key recommendations include planting trees to provide shade and improve the environment, separating the dogs to reduce overcrowding and prevent fights, increasing the food supply to ensure all animals are adequately nourished, and upholding and enforcing animal rights to ensure humane treatment.
The organization emphasized the urgency of these changes to enhance the well-being of the animals and to align the shelter with acceptable standards of animal care.
